Mary Free Bed's stroke team evaluates you and creates a treatment plan based on your needs. Length of treatment varies from a few sessions to several months.

Mary Free Bed's therapists provide home, school, or job site evaluations, when needed. Specialty-trained therapists provide evaluations and treatment for recent innovative technology such as upper-extremity and lower-extremity Bioness devices for functional electrical stimulation of hand and ankle movement.
Outpatient Therapy Treatment Facilities
The Outpatient Therapy Center adult floor features two therapy gyms, multiple individual treatment spaces, a simulated apartment, and streetscape designed for daily living and mobility skill training.
The Outpatient Therapy Center also offers indoor and outdoor environments for curb, stair, ramp, and uneven surface training.
A heated therapeutic pool is available for patients as well as state-of-the-art equipment for voice and swallowing evaluations and treatment. Community- based outings can be arranged, when needed.
Admission Process
Many stroke patients treated in our outpatient center are previous Mary Free Bed inpatients who receive ongoing treatment through Mary Free Bed's continuum of care. However, many patients referred from external sources are also treated in the outpatient center.
A physician’s prescription is required for evaluation and treatment. Once we receive your prescription and verify your insurance coverage, we'll contact you to schedule the initial therapy evaluations.
You must be able to tolerate treatment and have transportation to the outpatient facility. Mary Free Bed's outpatient schedulers can provide information on possible community transportation resources.
