Patients who have undergone amputation or were born with a limb deficiency experience a unique, lifelong journey of managing mobility, prosthetics, skin issues and adjustments to life roles. The 2021 Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital Limb Loss Conference will provide evidence-based knowledge on skin and wound care strategies and high level and bilateral gait training. Presentations will include a patient’s limb loss journey, research regarding regenerative peripheral nerve interfaces, osseointegration technology, recreation therapy strategies and community resources for the patient with limb loss. All members of the health care team will benefit from presentations on the psychosocial aspects of limb loss. The patient’s journey presentation will provide a unique perspective regarding the challenges and adjustments faced after limb loss.
