Grand Rapids Mayor Honors Mary Free Bed Nurses with Proclamation
Every year, May 6 – 12 marks National Nurses Week. It’s a time to recognize and celebrate the exemplary contributions nurses make to our community.
This week, Grand Rapids Mayor, Rosalynn Bliss, issued a written proclamation thanking nurses at Mary Free Bed and across the Grand Rapids community.
Nurses make up the nation’s largest health care profession and nurses in Grand Rapids work in a variety of settings including, acute care hospitals, rehabilitation hospitals, sub-acute care facilities, physician offices, clinics, skilled nursing care facilities, home care settings, schools and more.
Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital and its Sub-Acute Rehabilitation program nurses received a special mention. The proclamation acknowledges that rehabilitation care creates a unique bond between nurses, the patients, and their loved ones.
Over the past three years, nurses across the world have been on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic, risking their own health for their patients. Throughout it all, they displayed compassion, dedication and empathy to their patients and their families.
This week, the official proclamation made the rounds on the floors at Mary Free Bed, being read by nursing staff. Following Nurses Week, it will be on permanent display in the hospital.
