Thank you to our Guild for sponsoring Fifth Third River Bank Run Wheelchair & Handcycle divisions
An open letter to the Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital Guild:
The Mary Free Bed Wheelchair and Adaptive Sports Department is very appreciative of the Mary Free Bed Guild for their continued support of our sports and recreation programs, including the Fifth Third River Bank Run Handcycling and Wheelchair divisions.
The Guild of Mary Free Bed has supported the handcycling and wheelchair divisions of the Fifth Third River Bank Run for the past 26 years. We are so fortunate to have such a strong and powerful group of women who support sports that are performed in a different way. Mary Free Bed has allowed these athletes to gain confidence, empowerment and perform lifelong skills through the participation of sports. Restoring hope and freedom is complete through our wheelchair and adaptive sports programs. Not only does this incredible group of women support the athletes who race on May 9, they volunteer their time to see firsthand all they do for them.
The Guild can witness the handcyclist who broke the all-course time records, they can feel the pride of family members who cheer their loved ones on and can offer words of encouragement to those who are experiencing the agony of defeat. I feel so blessed to work for Mary Free Bed, work side by side with the Guild and appreciate the support this organization offers to those with physical disabilities. This is such a unique relationship that our sister hospitals and programs envy…to have a group of inspirational women who make sure our athletes are Rollin’ On The River now and for years to come. Come out this Saturday, May 9 and cheer on the athletes!
With gratitude and such appreciation,
