Young Patients Score Big During Grand Rapids Griffins Visit to Mary Free Bed

Two Grand Rapids Griffins players took a break from practice to visit kids at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital. The hockey pros joined in the physical therapy sessions for the patients practicing passing and shooting the puck.

First year pro, Gabriel Seger, Forward #11, from Sweden, was joined by six year pro, Joe Snively, #21 Left Wing, from Virginia.

A mini “rink” was created in the hospital hall with patients and pros using sled hockey sleds to shoot around with each other.

“First year playing here, there’s awesome fans and community,” said Joe Snively. “The community gives so much for us, it’s nice to be able to give back”

Patients young and old enjoyed the experience with one younger patient saying, “When I grow up, I want to be a hockey player.”

Besides for smiles all around, the Griffins left pediatric patients and staff with signed photos.
