‘Thrive’ gala to benefit Cancer Rehabilitation Program
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Mary Free Bed Foundation’s annual fundraising gala, “Thrive,” is back and in person. After going virtual in 2020 and a postponement in 2021, the eighth annual event will be held March 12 at the JW Marriott in downtown Grand Rapids.
This year, proceeds will benefit Mary Free Bed’s Betty Bloomer Ford Cancer Rehabilitation Program, named to honor former First Lady Betty Ford and her groundbreaking cancer efforts. As the first designated and comprehensive cancer rehabilitation program in West Michigan, Mary Free Bed offers personalized care for patients with all types and stages of cancer.
The gala will feature musical entertainment by Joe Carroll, who has appeared in numerous Broadway and off-Broadway shows, regional productions and TV shows. Joe, who grew up in East Grand Rapids, got his theatrical start locally at East Grand Rapids High School and has appeared in shows at Grand Rapids Civic Theater, Circle Theater and CARE Ballet.
“The Foundation is thrilled to be back in person with our supporters,” said Jocelyn Dettloff, the Foundation’s Development director. “The gala is a great opportunity for the community to experience the power our mission of restoring hope and freedom has on the lives of patients.”
