Go Team USA! Mary Free Bed Athletes Competing at Paralympics

The 2024 Paris Paralympic Games are here with the opening ceremonies on Wednesday, August 28. Around 4,400 athletes will compete in in 23 different disciplines. Mary Free Bed has five athletes that are competing in Paris starting this week including:

Grace Norman

Grace Norman is a Paralympic Paratriathlon athlete. This will be her third Paralympics, and she’s already one one gold, one silver and bronze medal! Grace had her left leg amputated when she was young and has been working with Mary Free Bed’s Orthotics & Prosthetics team since 2022. Her triathlon will be live on Sunday, September 1st at 2:15 AM EDT.

Kate Brim

Kate Brim is a para-cyclist from Lowell, MI. She joined Mary Free Bed’s handcycle team in 2021 after a spinal cord injury and rehabilitation at Mary Free Bed. Just one year after she began para-cycling, she won a time trial and road race para-cycling World Cup and World Championships in 2022. Tune in to her race on Sept, 4th at 2 a.m. EDT.

Matt Tingley

Matt Tingley is a para-cyclist from Rochester Hills, Matt joined the hand cycling team at Mary Free Bed after being inspired by the sport and developed into one of the team’s coaches. Don’t miss his race on Sept 4 at 7:30 a.m. EDT.

John Boie

John Boie is a wheelchair basketball player going into his second Paralympics after winning Gold in 2020. He plays for Mary Free Bed Pacers when not playing with Team USA. Watch him on Aug 30 at 10 a.m. EDT.

Tyler Merren

Tyler Merren is a Paralympic goalball player on Team USA from Greenville, MI. Paris will be his fifth Paralympics and he has medaled two times. He was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa as a teenager, causing him to gradually lose his eyesight. Tyler currently plays for the Mary Free Bed Sonics goalball team.
