Rehabilitation engineer receives fellowship
Grand Rapids, Mich. – Amy L. Lenz, a research engineer with Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital’s John F. Butzer Center for Research & Innovation, has been named a Future Academic Scholar in Teaching (FAST) Fellow at Michigan State University.
The year-long fellowship trains doctoral students to become better teachers. So in addition to their research skills, the fellows will develop skills that will help them better convey their methods and findings when they are working with students in a classroom setting.
Developed in 2006, the FAST Program at MSU has trained more than 40 students through seminars, workshops and exchange programs with other universities.
Lenz, an MSU doctoral student in engineering mechanics, has been a gait lab engineer with Mary Free Bed since 2012. In addition, she was named a research engineer earlier this year.
